Privacy Policy
Last updated 4 September 2026
Ember is a dating app, which means you trust us with some of the most personal information there is. We take that seriously. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have over it — in plain language, without the legal fog.
1. Who we are
“Ember”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Clarzen Technologies, the business that operates the Ember dating app and the website at getember.in. If you have any question about this policy or your data, reach us any time at [email protected].
This policy applies to the Ember mobile app and this website. It does not apply to third-party services we link to, which have their own privacy policies.
2. Information we collect
We only collect what we need to run a dating app well. That falls into a few buckets:
- Your phone number. You sign up with your phone number and a one-time code. It’s how we verify you’re a real person and keep your account secure.
- Your profile. The things you choose to share to build a profile — your name, age, photos, bio, prompts, interests, and preferences about who you’d like to meet.
- Your photos. The pictures you upload. To keep the community safe, uploaded photos are automatically scanned (including reading any text in the image) to check them against our content rules before they go live.
- Your approximate location. We use your location to show you people nearby and to display your city. You can control location access from your phone’s settings.
- Messages and activity. The messages you send in chats, and how you use the app — who you like, match with, or report. This helps the app work and helps us keep it safe.
- Payment information. If you buy a plan or credits, the purchase is processed by the app store you downloaded from (Google Play or the App Store) and our payments partner. We receive confirmation of what you bought, but we never see or store your card details.
- Device and technical data. Basic information like device type, app version, and diagnostic logs that help us fix bugs and prevent abuse.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Create your account and show you your matches.
- Suggest people we think you’d genuinely like to meet.
- Let you chat with your matches.
- Keep Ember safe — verifying accounts, reviewing photos, and acting on reports.
- Process your purchases and manage your plan.
- Fix problems, improve the app, and get in touch about your account.
We do not sell your personal information, and we don’t use your private messages to target you with advertising.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal data, except where we’re required to keep certain records — for example to comply with the law, resolve disputes, or prevent a banned user from simply signing up again.
6. Your choices and rights
You’re in control of your data. Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act and other applicable laws, you can:
- Access and update your profile information at any time in the app.
- Control location and notification permissions from your phone’s settings.
- Delete your account from within the app, which removes your profile from Ember.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct or erase it, by emailing [email protected].
7. How we protect your data
We use industry-standard measures — encryption in transit, access controls, and secure infrastructure — to protect your information. No system is ever perfectly secure, but we work hard to keep your data safe and to respond quickly if something goes wrong.
8. Age requirement
Ember is only for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we’ll delete any such account if we become aware of it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Ember grows. If we make a significant change, we’ll let you know in the app or by other means. The “last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version.
10. Waitlist and marketing email
If you gave us your email address on getember.in before launch, we keep it so we can tell you when Ember opens and what you get as an early member. That is the only reason we hold it. We do not sell it, rent it, or pass it to anyone else for their own marketing.
Every marketing email we send carries a one click unsubscribe link and our postal address. You can stop these emails at any time, either from that link or by writing to [email protected]. We act on it straight away, and an address we have been asked to stop emailing goes on a suppression list so later campaigns skip it automatically.
Unsubscribing from marketing is separate from your account. If you go on to create an Ember account, you will still get the messages you actually need, such as sign in codes, because those are not marketing.
To have your waitlist address deleted from our records altogether, rather than only suppressed, email [email protected] and say so.
11. Grievance Officer
Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, we publish a point of contact for complaints about how we handle your personal data. If you are unhappy with our answer, or with how we have used your information, you can reach our Grievance Officer directly:

We aim to acknowledge a grievance within 48 hours and to resolve it within 30 days. If you are still not satisfied, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
