Child Safety Standards
Last updated 30 August 2026
Ember is an adults only dating app. Nobody under 18 may create an account or use the service. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, sextortion, and any sexualisation of a minor. This page sets out our standards, how we enforce them, and how to reach us.
1. What is prohibited
The following are banned on Ember without exception, and result in immediate removal of the account:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form, including images, video, text, links, or generated content.
- Sexualising, soliciting, or grooming a minor, or attempting to make contact with a minor for any sexual purpose.
- Sextortion, or threatening to share intimate imagery of a minor.
- Trafficking a minor, or advertising, requesting, or facilitating any of the above.
- Any account belonging to a person under 18, and any profile using photos of a minor.
2. Keeping minors off Ember
Age is collected at signup and the account cannot be created without it. Anyone whose date of birth places them under 18 is refused, and this is enforced on our servers, not only in the app.
- Every account must pass an 18+ date of birth check to finish signup.
- Every profile is required to have photos, which gives us and other members something to assess and report.
- Accounts we believe belong to a minor are removed, whether we find them ourselves or someone reports them.
- Age misrepresentation is a permanent ban, not a warning.
3. How to report a concern
In the app: open the profile or the chat, choose Report, and select the reason. Reports about a minor or about sexual content involving a minor are treated as our highest priority. Reporting is confidential and the other person is never told who reported them. Blocking is available at the same time and takes effect immediately.
By email: anyone, including people who do not use Ember, can write to [email protected]. Put “child safety” in the subject line so it is routed straight to our designated contact.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. In India, the police helpline is 112 and the child helpline is 1098.
4. What we do about it
- Reports involving a minor are prioritised ahead of all other moderation work.
- Accounts are removed and the person is barred from creating a new one. We keep a record of banned numbers so a removed account cannot simply sign up again.
- We preserve the relevant account data and evidence, and report to the relevant regional and national authorities as required by law.
- Repeated violations of our wider community rules also lead to suspension, tracked through a strike system.
5. Designated contact
Our point of contact for child safety matters, including questions from Google, regulators, or law enforcement about our CSAE and CSAM prevention practices, is [email protected].
6. Compliance
We comply with applicable child safety laws in the regions where Ember is available, and we report to regional and national authorities where the law requires it. These standards are reviewed as our product and our legal obligations change.
